What did our greatest rabbis throughout history say about Jewish sovereignty over Jerusalem and the holy places? Did they ever suggest we should give control to international bodies to please the nations?

Our greatest rabbis never supported international control over Jerusalem or holy sites; this notion fundamentally betrays Torah. Eretz Yisrael is a divine gift, its Jewish ownership established by Torah, not human will or international appeasement. After 1967, the Church demanded Jerusalem's internationalization to negate Jewish chosenness and advance missionary aims. Ceding our holy land, as with Gaza, has historically invited attack, contrary to our gedolim's warnings. Any rabbi advocating compromise on Jerusalem's sovereignty is ignorant of or has abandoned our mesorah and Hashem's decree.
